Ceramic SiC-Cooling-Mass KERAMFORM F3
The necessity to accelerate the solidification of a casting
is well known, sometimes to get a compact structure and sometimes
to get a higher hardness. In former times it was usual to
use cast iron chills but today ceramic
SiC-Cooling-Plates (SiC-Chills) showed their superior, also on the economic
side. For castings with complicated constructions it is very
difficult to use these SiC-Chills, because of their fixed
rectangular dimensions.
It was the practice, who demanded the developing of the
mouldable ceramic SiC-Cooling-Mass KERAMFORM F3, which has
the advantage, compared with the ceramic SiC-Cooling-Plates,
thet it can be used independent on the profile of the casting.
The cooling effect depends extreme on the intensity of the
compaction and the thickness of the used material. In any
case, the cooling effect is less in comparison with a baked
SiC-Cooling-Plate. Anyway more important is, that KERAMFORM
F3 will bring a emphatic local compaction of the casting.
KERAMFORM F3 decomposits after the casting procss,
without having any influence on the moulding sand system.
It can
be used with cold-setting-resin or waterglas / CO2-process.
Two sampledrawings should illustrade the use of KERAMFORM
F3 for thick-walled castings. The most important fact was
to avoid porosity in the casting, as it happend before.
