The foundrymen, who manufactures general machine tools,
knows the difficulty to find a middle course between hardness,
chilling, wearing quality and machining possibility.
The requirements on slides, tables, tops or similar constructions
are extreme high, because their quality is most important
for the quality of the complete machine tool. It is not only
the metaltype or the alloying elements, which are important,
in most cases the aim of the foundrymen is to reach a special
hardness and structure at a special part of the casting.
The use of castiron-chills is well known for this problem,
but there disadvantages are also well known : strong chilling
effect at the surface of the casting, stress cracks, very
hard, sometimes white outer edges, an unfavourable influence
on the structure, the danger of welding, the danger of oxidation,
a less lifespan and so on.
Compared with this these disadvantages have the ceramic
SiC-Cooling-Plates (SiC-Chills) clear advantages:
- soft, easy to work surface, that means a higher cutting
speed and a longer life of the tools
- they influence the depth of the material by giving it
an even hardness and a positive structure - even there
where it is needed
- no danger of welding or blistering
- unlimited time in the mould before casting
- multiple use, also we not coated
